Sailing Report – 8 May

Another fantastic day on the water. Four races (Aires x 2 and Viking x 2) with 12 racers for the morning session and seven for the afternoon. Great weather, sunny, wind F3/4 easterly giving moderate waves. High tide at lunchtime so all the sailing on the sparkling sea was clearly visible to the great crowd soaking in the sunshine on the seafront and in the bar. Pete was kept very busy with lunches.

The club also hosted the second round of Feva National Squad training where these keen guys spent six hours of intense coaching and practice out at sea. It’s no wonder these youngsters are getting good.

A huge thanks to the duty team…

Steve Sampson who brought his knowledge of setting many courses to give a great sailing experience
Chris Bull and Andy Richards in the safety boat – Waverider on possibly its last full outing.
William Palmer as beach and then Safety Boat crew.
And all the others who pitched in to get everyone launched and then ashore safely despite the high tide dump. Truly a team effort.
And congratulations to Ross Fisher for four straight bullets.
See you all on Wednesday!
