Performance Squad Investment is Paying Off

Recently our performance squad sailors have been branching out further a field and showing that their extra coaching has been paying off. Ed Gerwatt and Owen Aldous recently spent the whole week at the Fed Week meeting at Hayling Island Yacht club where they came a very impressive 3rd and 4th place. This was in big fleets with very windy conditions and a confusing course with very fast tides. They decided to sail in the Laser 4.7 class as the wind on the first three days was very strong. For sea sailors to go to the harbour and perform so well is an excellent achievement.

Jack Miller and Callum Bergman went over to Arun Yacht club on Saturday to take part in their adult and cadet regatta. This was the first time that the two boys have sailed together as neither of their usual partners were available. The first race showed again the impact that the coachaing has had with the two boys bringing their Feva home in 5th place overall in a big fleet. They were only beaten by two laser full rigs and two RS 400 boats. The second race was sailed in a lot more difficult conditions with the wind picking up to 20kts and the boys found themselves really struggling to hold the boat upright. Because of their excellent result in Race 1 they won the Cadet section and bring home more silverware to the club.

Well done to all.
