WoW – Week 2

Another perfect evening’s sailing for WOW, a variable 5 knots, NNE in beautiful sunshine. Thanks to Bill Brooks for taking some photos which hopefully we can see soon, whilst carrying out safety duty with Jake Aldis-Hobbs on our new rib.

Our more experienced sailors took out the three fevas or were solo in two of the picos, and the topaz, having a refresher around a triangular course. This worked well with all ladies getting back into the swing of things and reminding themselves of the five essentials.

The other “novice” sailors were supported by our fantastic team of instructors in the five remaining picos and 2000. All have now had a go at helming and tacking and are becoming familiar with moving around the boat confidently. Great start to the season with more quality time on the water.

Next week we will start splitting the group into two, to enable the more experienced sailors to begin to refine their skills and learn how to make their boats go faster, so they can begin to take part in the racing sessions on Wednesdays and Sundays if they wish. The novices will then have more one to one tuition to enable them, step by step, to learn how to sail confidently in a range of wind and sea conditions.

The evening’s sailing was then followed by a lovely meal prepared by Anita.

Thanks to everyone who helped the session go so well.
